Before You Replace Your Drill Bits, Compare the Cost to Refurbish
An expensive bit should not become a replacement purchase without considering its condition and remaining service potential. For eligible carbide tooling, sharpening or refurbishment may offer a lower-cost path to continued use.
Could your savings reach thousands?
They could, especially across several eligible bits—but the answer must come from your actual numbers. The cost of new tooling, the work required, transport and remaining serviceability all affect the comparison.
A simple illustrative comparison
Suppose five replacement bits would cost $1,200 each. That is $6,000. If servicing the five eligible existing bits costs $350 each, plus $250 total transport, the service total would be $2,000. The difference in upfront spending would be $4,000.
Illustration only. These are invented example inputs, not DG Carbide prices, typical customer results or a guarantee. The comparison assumes all five bits are suitable for the proposed service and does not account for differences in remaining life, productivity, tax or downtime.
Compare more than the headline price
Ask whether the bit remains appropriate for your application, what the quote includes, when the work can be completed and how transport will be handled. If you can document remaining useful life or drilled footage, that can support a more meaningful cost-per-use comparison.
